HandyLegs – support for stockings

Handylegs approached Wolters Engineering as a mechanical engineering bureau to develop a tool that allows people to independently put on and take support stockings.

The initial customer request was: “Can you calculate the combination of aluminum and plastic?” Wolters Engineering is specialized in this type of calculation as a technical consultancy firm. We helped HandyLegs with all the necessary calculations and also the complete product development up to and including producible design, so that they could bring the product to the market with confidence.

The calculations of products such as HandyLegs are important, because there is a considerable force on them when support stockings are stretched and certainly also when putting on and taking off the stockings. Together with HandyLegs, Wolters Engineering has started working on the development of the product.

Product development

Wolters Engineering has further developed the basic idea of ​​the customer. We looked at the play of forces in the product, the ergonomic aspects, such as the shape of the handles and the cost price for production.

Advising realizing parties

In addition to the development that Wolters Engineering performs as a technical consultancy, we have also been involved in advising the parties that are going to make and assemble the actual product. As a result, we unburden the customer and we know for sure that everything is actually realized in such a way that it has been calculated and drawn.

Within six months in production

Thanks to the collaboration between HandyLegs and Wolters Engineering, the HandyLegs were able to move from prototype to full production within six months. People who formerly received home care for putting on support stockings, thanks to the HandyLegs, have much more freedom, since they can do this daily job themselves, at the moment it suits them.
